Keyperson

A keyperson is a named practitioner how has responsibilities for a small group of children.  The keyperson will build up a relationship and help the child to feel safe and secure.  It is important for both parent and child and is an approach set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The keyperson will help the child to settle into the setting and respond to their individual needs. Communication between parent and keyperson is paramount as together they hold key information about the child between home and the setting.

Each keyperson will work alongside another in partnership groups to ensure the child has a keyperson at the setting in the event of holidays, sickness, training etc.

All of our staff get to know the children well and will observe and contribute to each child's learning journal.  The keyperson is responsible for assessing the child's progress by using the 'Observations of Play and Learning' (OPaLs) system, completing starting points, contributing to progress check at age 2 and the next steps in their learning.
