Early Years Funding (EYF) & Fees

Early Years funding is a national scheme which offers funded childcare with Ofsted registered providers.  It is administered by local authorities.  Registered providers can choose how they offer the funding as long as the following parameters are met:

  • Funded childcare cannot be longer than 10 hours in a single day
  • Funding must be accessed between the hours of 6am and 8pm
  • Funding is available at a maximum of two different sites in any single day

Funded childcare provides a maximum of either 570 or 1140 hours per year depending on eligibility.  All children are eligible to the 'Universal' funding from the term after their 3rd birthday;  this provides up to 570 hours per year.  working families funding is for qualifying working parents and is available from the term after the child attains 9 months of age, this provides up to 1140 hours per year.

Information on all eligibility criteria can be found on the link below:

Some 2 year olds are eligible for 2help funding of 570 hours per year from the term after their 2nd birthday.  Please follow the link below for eligibility criteria and how to apply.

Milby Nursery is an all-year-round provider and we stretch the funding across 50 weeks of the year.  For children eligible for 570 hours this equates to 11.4 hours per week.  For those eligible for 1140 hours this equates to 22.8 hours per week.  Fees are payable for the remaining hours.  Our 'core' nursery day is 9am-3pm; parents may register their child for any number of days per week (subject to availability).  We can offer an extended day for children aged 3 and 4; these hours cannot be covered by the Early Years Funding.

Children who are eligible for the 2help funding or Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) access their funding across 47.5 weeks; please contact the nursery office if you are eligible.

Forms and Documentation

Funding regulations require all parents to enter into a funding agreement and complete a Parental Declaration Form, this will need to be completed and signed each term.  This confirms the booked sessions before the start of the new term.  For all funded children, parents must provide evidence of their child's date of birth, i.e birth certificate or passport.  Parents accessing working families funding must obtain an eligibility code and re-validate the code every three months.  Failure to do this will result in the funding being withdrawn.  Parents accessing 2help funding must provide us with a copy of their eligibility letter.

Essentials and Extras

Early Years Funding is intended to cover the basic provision in the Early Years Foundation Stage.  However, the funding received does not fully cover all expenses needed to provide and rich and well resourced environment.  Therefore, there are certain essential consumables and additional extras that are not included within the government rate.  These may include, but not limited to:  snacks, drinks, wipes, paper hand towels, sun cream and seasonal protective items, nursery parent app, special activities, celebrations and enrichment experiences, external visitors, living eggs, Outdoor Adventurers, Yoga Teacher and special events such as Christmas Sharing Morning and the Leaver's Party etc.

To cover these costs we request parents pay a non-mandatory Essentials and Extras fee of just £5 per funded day to support our continued sustainability and the quality of provision.  These charges are not a condition of accessing funded hours.

Breakdown of Essentials and Extras:

Activities - £3.30

Non-food consumables 50p

Food/snack charges - £1.00

Total - £5.00

Fees and Billing

Fees are payable monthly and parents will receive their bill via the Famly app.  We accept payments using the Government's tax-free childcare scheme, childcare vouchers, bank transfer, cash or cheque.
