Red room is where the pre-school children are based. The environment is divided into different learning areas.

Small World Area
Activites and resources include train tracks, garage, cars and road map, farm and farm animals, castle and fantasy figures, happy land, jungle and wild animals.

Mark-making area
An area where children begin to develop and practice their mark-making and pre-writing skills. Resources include mark-making equipment such as pencils, crayons, felt-tips, chalks, pastels, scissors, tape, envelopes, paper, chalk boards, wipe boards, stencils and rulers.


Home Corner
A homely area with resources and equipment that are familiar to children. A place for the children to be creative through role-play and be sociable with their peers.

Messy Area
A place to get creative and messy! Painting, sticking and creating models happen in this area.

Book and Story Corner
A cosy place to look at a variety of books, both fiction and non-fiction to develop and foster a love of books, taking care of them and begin to learn about print and illustrations having a meaning.

Snack Area
A place to enjoy a healthy snack and drink. The children learn self-help skills, choosing their own snack, using good manners, taking turns and socialising with others. The children learn about healthy lifestyles and even grow some of their own fruit and vegetables.
