Historical Information
The Glebe Playgroup was established in 1974 and was based at the scout hut on Higham Lane. It offered morning sessions to pre-school aged children. In 1980 the playgroup moved into a classroom in Milby First School. When several new housing estates were built locally the numbers of children increased significantly meaning that the playgroup had to start looking for new accommodation. A massive fundraising venture followed, where all the staff and parents pulled together and worked magnificently to raise the funds to have a large hut erected on the school playground. When the new hut opened in 1987 the setting adopted the name of Milby Playgroup and started offering morning and afternoon sessions. When times changed and many parents required longer hours of care for their children the playgroup again rose to the challenge and in 1998 changed to become Milby Nursery and Kids′ Club, the only local setting to offer full day care to nursery aged children and wrap around out of school care to older children. MNKC is now a registered charity and operates from two classrooms and the community room within Milby Primary School. Our setting now caters for the childcare needs of over 180 local families and is one of the largest in the area.

Registration and Accreditation
Milby Nursery and Kids Club is registered with Ofsted (Registration No. 200682) which means we have regular inspections and are able to accept children who receive the Nursery Grant. In 2007 we successfully gained our ′Aiming for Quality′ accreditation from the Pre-School Learning Alliance. This scheme is endorsed by Investors in Children who state that accreditation demonstrates to parents that the service offered by the setting is of excellent quality.
Government Funding
Government funding (i.e. Nursery Education funding) is available from the term after the child′s 3rd birthday. The nursery claims this funding on your behalf, but you will be asked to sign a ′Parental Declaration′ form. The grant covers 45.6 weeks of the year and fees are payable for the remaining weeks. Please contact us for an up-to-date pricing structure.
